Freycinet Walking Tour

  • Duration: 5 Hours (approx.)

****Please note that the Freycinet Walking Tour itinerary has changed from the 1st October 2023 and no longer includes a boat transfer. This is due to the Freycinet Aqua Taxi boat service being closed due to operational reasons. We apologise for the inconvenience and are confident that you will enjoy our alternative Wineglass Bay Hazards Beach Circuit Walk with our wonderful local guides****

At 8:00am, meet your Experiential Tasmania guide in the Hazards Lounge in the Freycinet Lodge. Your guide will unfold maps of the Freycinet Peninsula and trace your path ahead for the day before departing the Lodge on foot.

Start today’s walk along Freycinet’s most popular trail to the Wineglass Bay viewing platform. At the end of this gentle climb, you will be rewarded with an uncrowded picture perfect view of stunning Wineglass Bay. From this elevated perspective of the Peninsula, your guide will point out the route ahead into the less frequented corners of the National Park.

After a short descent, the eucalypt lined path opens to expose the magical destination that is Wineglass Bay. Kick of your shoes and feel the squeaky white sand beneath your toes, while your guide brews a cuppa perched upon a red lichen covered rock. A picture perfect location to sit back and enjoy morning tea.

Our next part of the journey is across the peninsula on the Ithsmus Track to Hazard’s Beach. Less visited but by no means less impressive, we continue the journey south along this stunning stretch of empty beach. Leaving only our footprints, you’ll learn of the unique animals that call this special place home and the history behind it’s gorgeous shores and red granite peaks.

In a cosy sheltered cove, dig into your packs and enjoy a delicious picnic lunch before having time to trail the shore for treasures or dive into the crystal blue waters. We then depart on the final walking leg of the day, a winding track that hugs the rocky headland around the base of Mount Mayson. Reunited with our vehicle at the walkers car park, we will then transfer you back to the Freycinet Lodge where the tour concludes. The perfect place for a celebratory drink!
